Hi, it's Andy here and welcome to Radio Headspace and to Wednesday morning. So very often,

we're looking after the mind, training the mind, practicing meditation or mindfulness.

There is the desire to experience, wow, an experience of some kind. A quiet mind, a moment

of clarity, a flash of enlightenment, however we might like to think about it, but it's

really in the stability. It's in that thread of consciousness, a thread of awareness through

24 hour period where it becomes most valuable. And sure to begin with, we might only experience

it during our meditation or in a brief moment of applied mindfulness during the day.

But over time, that's the ability that becomes far more important. And it's incredible

to think how it can begin to impact every single moment in our life. And when I think

of stability, when I think of that thread, I'm always reminded of a particular teacher

who I met, I only met him one time. And it was at one of my very first monasteries.

I've gone there to visit actually another teacher. And one of the other people staying there,

when I got there said, hey, look, you have to meet this guy. Like he's not really around

much. Anymore, he's also very elderly. So we don't know how much longer he's going to

live for. But while you're here and while you're visiting, you have to see this guy.

Anyway, he arranged me to go in. So very elderly, very elderly man, he's in his early 90s
