Hello folks what's going on out there in your gardens hope you're doing well today

today we're talking with the verdant north and we are talking about hygiene in the

garden how can you prevent diseases from moving from one plant to another, even pests

from moving from one plant to another, and just some general cleanliness techniques for the garden

because you know if you have a disease in one area of the garden

the last thing you want to do is give that disease a free ride to everywhere else in the garden and

have it destroy much more than it normally should.

And there are some very simple techniques that we can use to do this.

And so let's go ahead and get into the episode with Caroline and Dan over at the Verdon North.

It's pretty important to, especially if you are concerned that you might have a disease

or a pest problem in your garden to make sure that you don't communicate that to your other plans.

Well you could tell them they might be they might be afraid though I mean one easy thing to do is to make sure that your tools are clean clean your tool so you can have like bleach solution or you can have I don't know you I think there's a number of different ways that you can do.

I use rubbing alcohol actually on my garden tools.

Okay so I work in a laboratory and we use rubbing alcohol

to sterilize our bio-hoods, where we work with cell cultures

and we clean our benchtops with it, a lot of stuff. So I think it's just cheap and easy and I can

Put it in a little spray bottle and go ahead and sterilize my scissors and my shears my snippers my sectors my sectors

all that kind of stuff so I I really like rubbing alcohol a bleach solution might be a little more effective on viruses, but rubbing alcohol as long as you give it enough time to kill everything, it will dehydrate any bacteria or fungi and then that's how it kills.
