Verdant North team and today we're talking with Dan specifically so he's going to

give us some really interesting information on how to properly prune a tree. Now that might sound like a

little bit of a dull topic but we think we made it fun to listen to for sure and also

super informative because there's a lot that goes into that. It seems like it could just be as simple as chopping off a limb.

Turns out that is not the case. So without further ado, let's go ahead and get into the episode.

All right, let's talk now about how to properly prune a tree.

I feel like tree pruning is a very sad thing because it's so often just misunderstood.

A lot of times people will hire kind of the cheapest person they can find who's got like a

chainsaw to just go and kind of like buzz all the branches up off their tree that are going to be a problem.

What's wrong with that method?

Well, you're basically setting your tree up to die.

Oh no.

It's kind of a tricky thing.

So trees don't die right away. You know, like if you do something that's going to kill the tree the tree isn't going to die from their five or six years

Oftentimes so it's kind of hard to tell what it was and then you know suddenly your tree blows over in a storm and you're like oh who could have known?

Well it's because you mess it up when you prune a big branch off.

Anyway, the most important thing to remember when you're pruning your trees is you never, never,

do a flush cut.
