This is Divine Mercy Sunday.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Let's call to mind the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

What is the big deal about Divine Mercy Sunday anyway?

Everyone knows God is merciful. What's the problem out there?

Is the problem that people think their sins are too big to be forgiven? Is everybody

despairing out there?

Does everybody go around saying that they have sins which are so bad

they don't think they can ever be forgiven?

Hardly.

The world isn't spending all its time feeling guilty. If you tell people, God's so

merciful, he'll forgive even you, they'll say, yeah, I'm sure he will will I know he's a loving God and I'm not a bad

of a person anyway so I don't have any trouble believing his mercy is sufficient to

forgive my sins.

So why are we spending so much time upon mercy when everybody already knows that God is

a merciful God. Well, people aren't worried that God won't give them mercy,

they're worried he will. People are actually afraid of God's mercy and I'm one of them. Afraid of what

he might do to us if we give ourselves totally to him to do with us whatever he wants.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow would be your name?

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
