What is spiritualized gaslighting?

According to psychological experts,

gaslighting is a form of manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual

or in members of a targeted group, hoping to make them question their own perception of reality.

You've probably come across a term that guys like me use and it's the term gaslighting.

Actually there was a 1940s movie where a husband was doing all sorts of things to try to convince his wife that she was crazy and that's what he was trying to succeed with.

Well when we talk about gaslighting, we refer to the narcissist attempt to create

and then maintain a sense of confusion in you

about who you are and how you interpret life.

Let's keep in mind that the narcissist must be in control

and they feel like they've got to be in that superior position,

they've got their own alternate views of reality, and so if they can keep you in a doubting

or a confused status, then that just plays right into their hand very nicely.

And so as we understand what they tend to do with the gaslighting tactic and then how you can respond

to it, I'm hoping that this is going to be something that you can learn how to avoid.

Theologians of all stripes may resort to this tactic, but it seems to be especially common

among those from the Calvinistic worldview.

Some Calvinists argue that we are born believing in the basic freedom of human will,

the ability to make meaningful choices.

But then they argue that perception of reality is false,

and that God is actually controlling all our preferences and thus our choices under their definition of sovereignty.

If one attempts to disagree, they are often made to feel as if they are crazy, heretical, or just too ignorant to really understand.
