Hello, my friends, and welcome to our practice session. In our practice sessions, we invite our featured

0:05.7

guests to show off their negotiation and conflict resolution skills in a realistic scenario. In this

0:11.0

session, I want you to pay attention to what our guest does and not to what I do, because while they

0:16.6

are trying to show off their skills and teach you, I'm trying to frustrate their efforts in

0:21.9

different ways through things like aggression, annoyance, emotionality, or awkwardness.

0:27.6

And then after the practice session, we debrief and talk about what worked, what didn't work,

0:32.3

and what you can use in your next difficult conversation.

0:35.9

All right, everybody, and welcome to our sparring session.

0:39.4

0:55.3

1:05.4

She's going to set the stage and give us an idea of some of the challenges that might come up

1:09.8

in the conversation that she has to

1:11.5

use, she has to work through as a coach. So we're going to see how those negotiation skills

1:16.9

operate as a coach working with a client. So I'm going to try to be difficult in different ways

1:23.2

for that sparring session. And then we're going to do a breakdown. We're going to talk about what happened.

1:28.5

And then we're going to have the sparring session that you have been waiting for,

1:32.0

where Nancy acts as the client would in the difficult conversation that they're prepping for.

1:37.8

So the conversation that we're prepping for is a difficult conversation where the person continues to get interrupted.
