In Antarctica, they have, or they're going to build ground stations for use by their ocean observation satellites.

At least that's what they claimed.

I should point out that the reporter claiming this has now been deleted from the state-run press.

So maybe they didn't want anyone to see this.

China has a tendency to surveil, do military, even in its commercial or in its science research.

So they have a base in the East Antarctica as most nations do, and they've installed, or going to install,

ground-based antennas to communicate with satellites in orbit.

Now, the location is such that mostly it is not surveillance satellites that go there,

but there's no surveillance of Antarctica, Antarctica, for military purposes, for science purposes.

Yes, but if you've got a military surveillance polar orbiting satellite that goes over all the parts of the world,

this would be a great place to download the data.

And so who knows they're doing it though China? They like to spy.
