Welcome back my friends. It is time for us to get our minds aligned with the truth of God and

we've been doing that by looking at the book of 1st Peter. We're in chapter 2, almost right in the middle of the chapter.

And we have stepped into a topic that is a hot button. I just have to tell you if you want to go back to get the

context in fact I encourage you to go back and get the context you can go back

two episodes prior to this one to the one titled Peter's Powerful Use of the S word.

And I will just leave it at that. That will get you up to speed if you start there

and listen to the episodes forward to this one.

What we are talking about is the calling we have as believers in Christ to be about the business

of serving other people that really is our calling. Now there are certain people in our

culture who we consider are supposed to be servants of others. Perhaps they are

domestic servants like a butler or a maid or a house cleaner.

Perhaps they are people who wait tables and you know I did that during college.

It is quite the important role. It's quite the customer service

oriented row you might say. It is a serving position. But Peter is making the argument that all of us if we are going to be like Jesus are to be servants.

And today we're looking at this section of 1 Peter Chapter 2 verses 18 all the way through 25 where he has begun talking about this in the context of what in his culture really existed in the form of slavery.

And he says in in the form of slavery.

And he says in the very first two sentences, ending in verse 19, that slavery is an unjust

practice. He's saying suffering under the hand of slavery is unjust.

But nevertheless, he says those servants who are believers in Jesus Christ in order to be like Jesus are to be subject to

their masters with all respect not only to the good ones and the gentle ones but

also to those who are unjust.

And his logic is that we are to be examples of Jesus Christ to everyone around us. Let that resonate in your mind for a moment. We're
