Much like a radio listener, a blind person doesn't have the advantage of the world just laid out right there in front of the eyes.

If you're blind, you're going to have to orient yourself. You need a decent memory, quick wits, a good nose, and of course you're going

to have to depend a lot on your sense of hearing.

So I know at all times, traffic's on the left, the ocean's on the right. So at any time if I wasn't

doing it right, I would know. So that's my job to keep in focus where all the sounds are at.

We live in a sight-based world.

I never would have imagined that there are some blind and vision impaired people

who actually play a form of something as seemingly sight-dependent

as baseball, hitting a pitched ball, fielding a ball, even finding a base.

How is that possible? Well here's independent producer Ryan Schemel

to take us to a game.

So it's Saturday, June 30th and the first thing I think is that I should have brought some

sunscreen.

I've been here barely an hour and already I'm turning the color of prosciutto.

The small corner of shade has been inch by inch disappearing since we got here

and the handful of spectators have bunched themselves

into this tiny patch of grass to avoid melting to death.
