Unfictional is a program of stories and original documentaries from the Independent Producer Project

and in both of the stories on this episode there is one moment that significantly alters the course of the lives of the people in these stories.

And the thing about these kind of moments is you never know when they're going to come.

For me, I remember there was this one time when I was in high school. I know it was late high school because I was driving.

I myself, I was listening to the car radio and a commercial came on.

It was a commercial for a school that teaches you how to be on the radio,

how to get jobs in radio.

And there was a line in it that said something like,

Have you ever considered a career in radio? And to that point, in high school,

I hadn't considered a job in radio. But for some reason, I don't know, I was really receptive

that day or something something but I thought radio

now I didn't actually go to this radio school but for some reason their

commercial planted this seed in my head.

It opened up this idea that led me down this path of this career that I've been doing for a very, very long time.

It's supporting my family.

It's shaped my entire work life and it just stems

from this one moment when I happen to hear this radio commercial on the 101 freeway.

Sometimes change happens so slowly in your life that you can't even feel it happening,

but more often the most life-altering turns in our life pivot on one quick unexpected moment.

Take this guy, for example, standing and looking at a wall covered in graffiti.

Wow, that's pretty gnarly and pretty nice, like, it's got a nice double outline, they say clean,
