is genuvia and this medication is Genuvia.

And this medication is what's called a DPP4 inhibitor.

Now that DPP4 inhibitor name comes from its mechanism of action.

Citiglipton inhibits dipept peptidase 4. This prevents breakdown of incritin hormones.

And if you remember from physiology, so incritin hormones are important in glucagon, insulin, homeostasis,

and ultimately control of blood sugars.

So incritin hormones, a couple examples that you may be familiar with

if you've listened to previous podcasts.

GLP1 is an example of one of those hormones. So if you think about GLP1 agonist

medications, which we have covered previously, that's where that's come from. And Cidoglyptin

works on that pathway to basically increase that g-lp-1 hormone.

In addition, the other incritin hormone is GIP, and that would be glucose-dependent

dependent insulinotropic polypeptide.
