| 0:00.0 | It's Monday, March 22nd. Welcome to Market Forward. I'm Chris Hill with me today, Jason |
| 0:08.5 | Moser. Good to see you. Addy. We've got an ETF built on FOMO. We're going to talk spin-offs |
| 0:16.2 | and share an investing lesson from the big dance. But we're going to start with the deal |
| 0:20.2 | of the day in the railroad industry, no less. Canadian Pacific Railway is buying Kansas |
| 0:26.4 | City Southern. It is a cash and stock deal worth $25 billion. And this will be the first |
| 0:33.9 | freight rail network to connect Canada, the US, and Mexico. Shares of Kansas City Southern |
| 0:41.5 | are up on this announcement. That really shouldn't surprise anyone. Up about 12 percent today. |
| 0:46.3 | Up 150 percent for the past year. That surprised me. Well, I mean railroads, very interesting |
| 0:55.7 | type investment. I mean, I think with railroads, much like these sort of state-boring businesses |

| 1:21.0 | of perspectives. I mean, to me, really, the headline is, and then there were six. And |
| 1:27.4 | what I mean by that is that now we will see consolidation in this space to where we had |
| 1:32.7 | seven class one railroads. Now that's whittled down to six. And ultimately, this is the |
| 1:37.6 | joining of the two smallest in the class one railroads. And as a reminder, for all of |
| 1:41.9 | those of you who are wondering, class one railroads, what are they and who are they? I mean, |
| 1:47.2 | these are generally based on size and coverage. But class one railroads are BNSF, Burlington, |
| 1:55.6 | Northern Santa Fe, CSX, a grand trunk corporation, which is Canadian Nationals operations. And |
| 2:00.4 | you had Kansas City Southern, you had Norfolk Southern, Sioux Line Corporation, which |
| 2:04.8 | is Canadian Pacific's operations, and then Union Pacific. So of those seven, we're seeing |
| 2:09.6 | the two smallest come together here in this deal. And it seems like a pretty fair. I |
