A little bit different today. I'm gonna do briefly just a little tiny book review I recently finished the book the new Jim Crow and I'm a few

years late it's from 2010 but I think it's pretty vital I just want to talk about a couple

of the themes that I found very compelling that I think

inform a lot of the conversation that I have on this show about race.

So I think it's a very good book.

I highly recommend it.

Again, talk about a couple things. Also, I went into the voicemail segment and one of the messages,

they were all actually pretty short, but I launched into some diatribes, and I realized I started talking about that op ed, you may have seen, shared around the usual suspects,

entitled, when progressives embrace hate just came out yesterday, maybe the day before depending on when you're hearing this and it's about the leaders of the women's march.

I started going on to this whole

spiel about and I realized oh wait I should this is what the show should be about

because a lot of people saw that column and I think it would be a good thing to do some of a show on. So it's not the whole topic but it

really is in retrospect it's kind of the focus. So that's what I'm going to be

talking about later in addition to some other stuff, some other voicemails.

Love doing the voicemail segment.

So let's get over to this book review thingy I'm going to do. So yeah, I just finished the new Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander and I really just thought

it was so important that I wanted to talk about it because it really there's so much about it that I think

tells us why there's so many disagreements around race and why two sides of this conversation are not even really

conversing?
