Hello there, welcome along to Run Pod. This is the Run Club of the podcast world and I'm the club leader, Jenny Falkader.

0:16.2

Now, the Run Pod Run Club is made up of an array of people from keen runners, proper running keynotes who are relentlessly pounding the pavement, right through to those who actually love to move, but perhaps for one reason or another, running is no longer the thing they can enjoy. Well, today I'm joined by someone who probably fits into that category. He is known first and foremost as a chef.

He's a TV presenter, a regular on the box, in fact.

You'll absolutely see him weekly on Sunday morning, on Sunday brunch.

Simon, so nice to see you. It's been

0:56.0

a while. You know what? Yeah, I'm all right actually. It's funny because I turned 60 in May and

1:03.0

whilst I've never been bothered by age before, it's funny, it's the first age, first landmark age

1:08.7

where it's made me think, okay, what, what am I doing?

1:12.3

What, what am I doing with the rest of my life? You know, it's a biggie.

1:16.5

It's funny, isn't it? Because people do get to these landmark birthdays and they suddenly

1:20.1

reassess. And I think, I remember my husband turning 40 and he went out straight away and got

1:24.8

a skateboard. He's like, you know, I used to skateboard. I'm going to do that again. And now he's approaching 50 and I'm sure there's something else that's coming. But it's funny, isn't it, how everyone feels the need to make a change in some way. Yeah, I always think that the landmark age things, you feel happy or discontent depending on where you sit in your life. So at 40, I was halfway where it was, 50

1:45.5

was happy where I was. 60, I'm happy where I am. But I think it was a weird thing, because I think

1:49.7

when I was growing up, when you got to 60, people used to work to retire when I was a kid.

1:55.0

You know, so you're right, I'm nearly 65. I can retire. Where I am a million miles from even thinking about that but I think it's the first time

2:01.7

I thought wow when I was a kid I imagined that when I got to this age I got right in five years

2:06.4

time I can I can give it up it's weird how it's made me think yeah do you know what I think that's

2:11.3

so different when I was at school and I just remember being a teenager and thinking by the time
