The government shutdown is now past the three-week mark, and neither side is budging.

Last night, a vote to pass a stopgap funding bill failed for the 11th time,

with Democrats standing firm over extended Obamacare subsidies.

Republican Majority Leader John Thune hopes to bring a bill to the floor later this week

that would continue to pay essential employees during the shutdown.

But he doesn't back the Democrats' push to also include furloughed federal workers,

who are currently going without paychecks, but we'll get back pay after the shutdown ends.

And speaking to CNN, GOP Senator Mark Wayne Mullen argues that Democrats could guarantee pay for all federal workers if they vote for the stopgap bill.

If they're open for paying all federal workers, then why'd they just reopen the government?

The stalemate means that the shutdown is now tied as the second longest in U.S. history.
