Dr. Molly Burrets called off her own wedding—and it changed everything. She shares the story of what led her to make that difficult decision, the self-reflection and work she realized she needed to do afterward, and how she eventually married the love of her life. We dive into the fear of shame and embarrassment that often comes with calling off a wedding—and why the reality is often far more supportive than you might expect. Molly also breaks down how to tell if your doubts are coming from anxiety or intuition, and walks through the key questions you should ask yourself if you’re unsure about ending a relationship.Whether you’re engaged, in a long-term relationship, or just curious about navigating big emotional decisions, this episode is full of practical guidance and compassionate insight. | 0:14.1 | And she's here not just to talk about the work she does, but about something that she went through that some of you have gone through, that some of you |
| 0:21.3 | might know somebody who has gone through. She called off her own wedding and now is here to help |

| 0:44.4 | conversation, you went through something that absolutely changes you, every aspect of your life. And not only |
| 0:53.9 | does it kind of coincide with the work that you do, |
| 0:57.8 | but I imagine to so many people that the fact that you went through it, got through it, |
| 1:03.2 | and are here to help others. Like you are such an inspiration. |
| 1:07.1 | Thank you. I hope that my story can help others. And I know a lot of times we don't know anything about our |
| 1:12.8 | therapists, right? We don't know what about their life journey has informed what they're doing. And I think |
| 1:17.6 | people make this assumption that couples therapists have perfect relationships. And for me, |
| 1:24.4 | honestly, the opposite is true. I'm in a great marriage and a great relationship now, but I think what really led me to this work was the experience of having several failed relationships that I got really, really curious about what was going on and tried to, like, heal myself first from an academic perspective by learning all I could about relationships |
| 1:44.4 | and connection. |
| 1:52.9 | Which I can only imagine makes you all the better at what you do. |
| 1:58.2 | I mean, the fact that you've been through it, the fact that you've |
| 2:01.4 | been in a relationship where you, I imagine, we'll get into it, but like kind of thought with |
| 2:07.5 | yourself, with your partner to figure out, can we make this work? And then to be sitting on the |
| 2:11.9 | other side, helping other couples go through it, you have a perspective that not many people do. |
