Has the time come to dethrone Iowa in the presidential primary starting lineup? After a disastrous

2020 Iowa caucus and years of grumbling before that, the Democratic National Committee entertained

a draft proposal earlier this month that would shake up which states vote first in the presidential

primary. The proposal wasn't ultimately considered at the DNC's meeting in March, but the conversation

isn't going away. So today, we're going to use the criteria in that draft proposal to look at how

the calendar could change if the party pursues reforms in the future. We're also going to

discuss where public opinion stands on accepting Ukrainian refugees and how it could evolve.

The White House announced last week that the US would accept 100,000 refugees and so far Americans

and citizens throughout the West are overwhelmingly supportive of such moves. We'll look at research

that suggests why support is so high and why that might change with time. And for today's

good or bad use of polling, we're going to scrutinize a new survey that suggests most Americans think

the West Wing and many other political TV shows are reflective of how politics actually work.
