Hey everybody, I'm excited to be recording the 17th episode of the All Things Fishing podcast this week.

This week I'm doing a review on the Shakespeare Ugly Stick Catfish Spinning combo.

So, it's a really long name.

Technically, it's just the Shakespeare Ugly Stick catfish combo

that's still really long. I guess that's just minus one word. Yeah, so I'm doing a review on that rod.

So I'll start up with the rod, specifically the rod blank. The rod blank has a graphite core

with the fiberglass shell. So what this means is that, what that means is that a graphite core with the fiberglass shell.

So what this means is that, what that means is that the graphite core gives it sensitivity

and the fiberglass shell gives extra durability and strength.

What makes that really nice is, it makes this rod good for other species, species of fish other than catfish. Like this could be a pretty good bass rod,

a croppy rod, any other type of fish. So really it's a multi-species rod. It is specifically

meant for catfish though. So yeah, because I do a lot of fishing with this rod that's not just

for catfish. And it's really nice for all types of fishing because it has the graphite core, it just gives it some sensitivity.

Obviously though, it's not a sensitive as like a $300 bass rod.

So it also has a medium fast to medium fast and medium heavy actions.

So really that just means it's strong and it can catch big fish.

The rod is also rated for 15 to 30 pound line and 1 half ounce to 3 ounce lures.

So the lures I cast on this are generally, they're generally actually lower than a half ounce.

Some of them I have, though, are right in that range.

Also, on the reel, I have, I have 20-pound braided spider wire.
