April is actually month of the military child.

To be honest, before I had my own kids, I didn't realize what the big hoopla was all about.

And then I had kids and it clicked.

Children of military members go through a lot.

My four year old, for example, has already lived in three different states.

And she often refers to our old house in Virginia and tells me how much she misses it.

I had the privilege of being the host of a military spouse's panel not too long ago.

And the ladies talked about how they were on their eighth, tenth, and even twentieth move with the military.

Military children not only have to deal with moving every few years though,

they have to deal with having one or both parents away for months at a time.

They have to learn how to touch and go, how to make friends and then say goodbye.

Military children are resilient, at least that's what I keep hearing.

The military does take having children very seriously.
