A year ago this week, a military soldier by the name of Vanessa Guillen was beat popping along on Fort Hood, living her life, counting down the days until she could say, Sionara Army.

You see, she had signed up for the army against her mom's advice and here she was sitting in her dorm room wishing she had just taken her mom's advice to her.

Well, what Vanessa didn't know then was that she would soon become the most talked about soldier in the world.

On April 22, 2020, Vanessa Guillen went to work in the arms room. She was wearing civilian clothes, apparently.

She was only there to do someone a favor when poof, she vanished.

For the next 70 days, her sister's mother, family, and friends would go up against a Goliath, the United States Army.

And if Goliath laughed when he saw a small, meek-looking Latino family that hardly spoke English, well, Goliath soon would realize who was boss.
