Volchre senior editor Jesse David Fox. Sorry I'm just so very excited for this episode because our guest this week is Seth Myers.

Former head writer of S&L, current host of Late Night with Seth Myers, which recently celebrated

its five-year anniversary and all-around good dude.

Over the course of my career, I have been fortunate enough to actually interview Seth more than

like anybody else.

I interviewed him six months into his gig as host of late night. I interviewed him at New York

Comic Con a year after that. I spent a day with him a week after the election following each step

of how a closer look comes together. But one time we just talked for an hour about Lonely Out and Digital Shorts and that was like the

entire story.

But this is the interview I was most excited about while preparing because we'll be talking

about documentary now.

The show of pitch perfect, documentary o, documentary homages he co-created with

Fred Armerson and Bill Heater. This is partly because I really love documentary

now, which returns on February 20th on IFC, but more so having as the focus of an episode allowed me to really talk to Seth about

writing.

Because deep down, that's what Seth is, a brilliant comedy writer.

The jumping off point for our conversation is the JuanAN-Likes Rice and Chicken episode of Doc

Renal season 2, which, if you can't tell by the title, was a parody of Dear Dreams of Sushi,

where in place of a Japanese sushi master, there's a man who perfected chicken and rice on a mountaintop in Colombia.

If it's not the best thing Seth has written, as we talk about, it's admitted to the most personal.
