Hello, it's Brooke Devard, and you're listening to the Naked Beauty Podcast.

0:07.0

I am so proud to bring you guys another amazing interview.

0:12.0

Angelica's story just absolutely blew me away.

0:16.7

Have you guys heard that quote, my feminism will be inclusive or it will be bullshit?

0:21.6

Basically saying that if you practice a type of feminism that does not include

0:27.3

people of color, that does not include trans people, that does not include people of different religious backgrounds,

0:34.7

different body shapes, different ages, you're not really practicing real feminism.

0:41.3

And I realized that I hadn't had a trans woman on the almost two years I've been doing this show

0:49.3

1:00.9

1:08.6

expand our thinking and expand our knowledge of other people's experiences.

1:13.3

I think her response to the question I ask everyone at the end,

1:16.4

1:18.9

Her response has probably been the most powerful I've ever heard. The thing is trans women are

1:26.0

slowly gaining more and more visibility in mainstream media which is

1:30.0

fantastic but trans women and trans men are still disproportionately impacted by suicide and

1:38.8

by violence.

1:40.4

I'm going to read a quote from the beautiful and very very talented Leverin Cox.

1:45.0

It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.

1:55.0

Angelica, I want to thank you for sharing your story.

2:00.0

Your bravery and wisdom is very inspiring.
