I'm Julia Cowley, retired FBI agent and profiler.

And I'm joined by my colleagues, Angela Serser, Bob Drew, and Susan Costler-Drew, who are also retired FBI agents

and profilers. And today's episode is part two of our discussion of serial murder.

So here's a question, because we've heard this a lot that these crimes are not about sex.

I think based on what Bob just said, it is, I mean, we've also mentioned control and we've mentioned dominance and we've mentioned power and all those other things.

But exerting those things

control power dominance feeds into or promotes a, it promotes not the right word.

Coens or elevates the sexual experience of the perpetrator. And hurting people.

And hurting the infliction of pain, the being, not only inflicting it, but seeing the

suffering of another individual.

Sadism is, and this is what I think is so hard for people to wrap their head around

and why you hear what's not about the set.

It is a sexual experience. It is an erotic experience for these

individuals to exert any of those things, power, dominance, pain, control, suffering, all of that

is wrapped into the sexual experience. And then ultimately taking the life of is the ultimate

sexual experience for that individual ultimate erotic experience i mean there are sites on the

dark web that portray this that have videos or whatever that portray this stuff all the time,

where people can go and deep into their fantasies about their sexual fantasies about killing

another individual. So it's, I know for most of us who look at any type of sexual activity as being a very different experience, that looking at it from this perspective is hard to get your head around.
