In 1981, Jeff returned home to Ohio after bumming in in Miami for a little while.

He had a brief stint in his dad's house that included an arrest for drunken and distortedly

conduct. He was booted and sent to live with his grandma in Wisconsin, which Jeff was fine with because he liked his grandma.

She was the only one in his family that he reportedly respected.

He'd help her with chores, he'd attend church with her, and even got a job.

For a while, it looked like he was changing and improving.

But we wouldn't be talking about him if he resided into suburban obscurity.

Jeff was eventually laid off from his job and would become unemployed for two years.

But before that, he was arrested again.

And this time it was for exposing himself to a crowd of 25 women and children at a state park.

He was fined only $50.

In 1985, Dahmer got a job as a mixer for a Milwaukee chocolate factory,

where he worked from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. 6 nights a week.

Shortly after he was hired, he was at a local library when a man handed him a note with an

offer to have sex.

While Dahmer didn't respond to the note, according to him, this set off a spark where the

feelings of gayness that he had been hiding began to emerge again.
