Here are your Washington headlines for the day. Number one, a shutdown is getting closer.

Number two, Nancy Pelosi's end game. And number three, the Senate's long day. Let's get into the mix.

So how could you tell a government shutdown is real? And,

you know, it's seven days out, so it's actually real. The Office of Management and Budget,

which oversees federal agencies, will send out its shutdown guidance today. That is a big deal.

That means, you know, the shutdown guidance tells agencies, tells federal agencies what to do in the

case of a shutdown.

This is on page 465 of OMB's preparation, submission, and execution of the budget.

It says one week prior to the expiration of appropriation bills, regardless of whether the

enactment of appropriation seems imminent, OMB will communicate with agency

senior officials to remind agencies of their responsibilities to review and update orderly shutdown

plans and will share a draft communication template to notify employees of the status of

appropriation. So again, a shutdown is one week from today. Doesn't mean it'll happen,

but this is not great news for, just as a reminder, frankly, that Congress is that close
