I'm Mary Mechley, and I welcome you to day four of this series we're exploring this week,

which is all about cultivating a deep inner devotion to that highest part of who you are.

You might consider it drawing closer to God or to the universe or simply being the best you can be.

In today's episode you're going to be guided in a meditation where you surrender.

You release whatever difficult emotion you are struggling with at this moment.

And I want to share with you a technique that can help you as you do this.

This is a tangible technique that you do with your hands. It's actually called a mudra.

It's a simple technique and doing this mudra is considered to open your heart.

This is the anahata mudra.

I'll guide you in how to do it. It's again very simple.

Simply place your hands on your lap and fold your index finger downward into your palm or right there at the very base of your finger.

And then take your thumb and hold your index finger downward doing this with each hand.

This can help ease heartache and it helps to cultivate a healing love.

So as you settle yourself down and get ready to meditate, sit up straight and close your eyes gently elevating them ever so slightly upwards.

And when you do this, you'll feel a subtle shift upward in your emotional state.

Begin to tune into how you're feeling right now.

Name a difficult emotion you're struggling with.

When you think of an upsetting emotion you might be struggling with, you may even feel a sense of heartache.

Allow yourself to open up to whatever you're experiencing.
