Hello there and welcome to another episode of Meet the Press reports I'm Chuck Todd.

In this episode, we're taking a look at the growing threat to American democracy and

what can be done to secure the vote and secure the voters vote.

Going into the midterm elections, a recent mountain with poll found that 29% of all Americans

say Biden won due to voter fraud.

It includes 61% of Republicans who believe that.

Now look, it is a provable lie that was spread by the former president, Donald Trump,

and his allies, particularly after the 2020 election.

The lie led some of the president's supporters to mount the January 6th Capitol riot.

At the time, they were hoping to prevent the certification of electoral college votes.

And despite the dismissal of just about every single one of Mr. Trump's election challenges

in courts all around the country.

Many Republican legislators and local governments in multiple states moved to enact more restrictive

voting laws since 2020, and they now also allow more permissive poll-washing.

Significantly, half of those election deniers that were running for Secretary of State,

which is the office that's most often responsible for certifying a state's vote count, they won

their primary races earlier in 2022.

And many are part of what they call the America First Secretary of State Coalition.

With a mission to quote, establish meaningful conservative America First election reforms,

and to quote, establish messaging that Secretary of State elections all across the country

are a priority.
