There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie.

0:13.6

Hello and welcome once again to the cine files. We're once a year.

0:17.2

We go into the world of horror where I am very very scared to go because my training is a director

0:23.5

instructor and filmmaker in Los Angeles, California does it make me feel safe in these kinds of

0:29.6

movies, John. Yeah. Hello everyone. This is John Rook, a writer, producer and host here in San Diego

0:35.5

and in Los Angeles when I can get up there. But yes, I agree with you, Steve. People know from my

0:39.8

time at Collider and my times and interactions with Perry Nemrop. I'm not the biggest horror fan

0:44.8

in terms of loving all kinds of horror and when I do, but what, but I am very selective of horror

0:49.7

and those are the films I enjoy, but the reason I enjoy them is because they take me on it incredibly

0:54.0

emotionally insane. Roller goes to ride and mess with me. So I'm not keen on going back in there

1:00.6

as well, Steve. So I hear you very much. And of course, the reason we're doing this is that it's

1:06.0

Halloween is coming up. In fact, I think this will come out the day before, a couple of days before

1:10.5

Halloween. And we've gone through a whole variety of scary genres from Stanley Kubrick's The

1:19.2

Shining, which is filled with dread. We've done the thing we've done the first arguably one of the

1:25.5

first slasher films, Halloween. We did Nightmare on Elm Street. And now we are going into the meta

1:33.2

postmodern horror film. And that is screen directed by Wes Craven. Yeah, this one. Every,

1:40.8

you know, when you talk to kids from the 90s, this is their one. This is their movie.

1:46.5

This spoke their language. This is what I was in my 20s and the 90s, but teenagers, they love

1:51.7

this movie worship at the altar of this movie. I think it had like five sequels, six total. And

1:57.2

then it's been a TV series. They're coming out with a new one, a reboot. So clearly, it still

2:03.6

carries weight. And ironically, it became a meta horror film that commented on horror films that

2:10.9

came before as if those horror films existed in their universe like it exists in ours. Right.
