and designers of all time.

This is an individual who not only put great literature

into print for the first time,

but did so in a format that made literature portable

for the first time.

In Manhattan, in the Silk Stocking District, a few blocks east of Central Park,

there's an unassuming five-story brick building that belongs to an

exclusive private club. This club is entirely dedicated to books, specifically to the art and craft of book production.

The president of the Grolier Club, as it's called, is Scott Clemens.

This is not his day job.

During business hours, Scott Clemens

is the chief investment strategist for Brown Brothers Harriman.

He joins me today to talk about his life and the fascinating history of books and design.
