about Billy Joel's storytelling saga scenes from an Italian restaurant, which I originally recorded three years ago in August 2021. This song feels like a good chaser to my season six finale on Bruce Springsteen's

Born to Run.

The songs just kind of have similar energy, you know.

They both tell stories of American life.

They both feature named characters, and they both have really great sax solos.

A listener recently wrote in to ask me about what he dubbed medley songs,

which are songs that shift gears and essentially become different songs at various points through their

runtime, and I would say that scenes from an Italian restaurant is one of the most famous

of those types of songs.

I do love when a song becomes a different song part way through it.

Basin Yepinaga. Nye Baba. Thomas Mapfuno is one of the best known Zimbabwean musicians out there.

He made music from the 70s right up through the modern era. He's still alive today

And he's known for adapting Shona music of the Shona people of Zimbabwe

To a more fleshed-out format with his band The Blacks Unlimited.

I've been listening to a lot of his 2002 album Toy Toy

Lately, my buddy Andrew Oliver, who some of you will recognize

that I did a couple of years back recently reminded me how much I love that album
