On Friday, the Republican governor of Florida finally, finally issued a stay-at-home order, a decree.

Weeks after the state's beaches were packed with spring break revelers.

We all saw the video.

Better late than never,

I suppose, but it's a little like the mayor in Jaws waiting until after the Great White

has finished eating the very last kid in town before finally closing the beaches. Interestingly,

and by interestingly, I mean, whatever the fucking fuck, the governor's order exempts religious

services in Florida.

And it overturns stay-at-home orders previously issued by Florida cities and counties that closed churches.

The governor's order says that only essential businesses can remain open and people can only leave their homes for essentials.

And all those suburban megachurches that have opened up and abandoned

J.C. pennies up and down the state are defined as essential. Did the virus draft this decree?

California has the most cases of this coronavirus after New York, and Florida is headed where

California is now. So you would think that when Florida's

governor sat down to draft his stay-at-home decree, he might have looked to California

where health officials in at least one county have determined that fully a third of their cases

can be traced back to a church service. One of the largest outbreaks of COVID-19 in the entire

United States, 71 cases traced back to a single service at a California megachurch.

Here in Washington State, a church choir decided to go ahead with rehearsal at their suburban church.
