Tom Cotton, the arch-conservative Republican senator from Arkansas, released a statement Sunday after the violence in Charlottesville.

Statement went like this.

White supremacists who claim to take America back only betray their own

ignorance of what makes America so special are country's founding recognition of the natural rights

of all mankind and commitment to the defense of the rights of all Americans. These contemptible

little men do not speak for what is just noble and best about America.

All right.

There is a lot of person could take issue with here, particularly a thinking person,

not the Republican senator or Republican voter.

For example, our nation's founders did not recognize the rights of all mankind.

They only recognized enslaved Africans and their enslaved descendants as three-fifths

of a person. They viewed women as property, not citizens, and they couldn't recognize the humanity

of Native Americans, much less their rights. So yeah, our founders fell short of demonstrating a

commitment to the rights of quote-unquote all Americans.

Or maybe it depends on what the meaning of the word all is in this context.

But Cotton, that asshole, Senator Cotton managed to do what that asshole Donald Trump

pointedly couldn't bring himself to do promptly condemn the drooling assholes waving Nazi flags

who gathered in Charlottesville to unite the Reich, excuse me, unite the right over the weekend.

Cotton, who never met a racist, in effect, Republican policy he couldn't get behind, managed to condemn
