Big new study out of the University of California, San Francisco, University of Texas, and Washington University made headlines all over the country last week.

The name of the study, that study's headline headline is rather dry. Correlation between pubic

hair grooming and STI's results from a nationally representative probability sample. That was the name

of the study. Seventy-five hundred people took part in the study. They responded to the study.

66% of the men and 80-ish percent of the women reported pubic hair grooming to various

degrees from a little trim to waxing and scraping it all the fuck off. And pubic care groomers

were roughly 80% likelier to report, not to have had, but to report having had self-reporting. This is what the study was. Self-reporting,

these groomers, all the men and all the women, likely to report having had an STI, sexually

transmitted infection at some point in their lives. Extreme groomers, which is how the authors

of the study describe people who took it all the fuck off at least 11 times a year

were the likeliest to report having had an STI at some point in their lives.

The headlines in the newspapers reacting to and reporting on this study,

shaving pubic hair related to sexually transmitted infections colon study. That was the New York

Daily News and their takeaway from the study, you might want to keep the grass on the field

to protect yourself. Time magazine, why you may want to rethink grooming your pubic hair.

Again, also suggesting that pubic hair is a kind of force field that may protect you from sexually transmitted infections.

And as much as it pains me to say this at two national public radio, going bare down there may boost the risk of STDs.

Quoting from NPR, people who have mowed the lawn at least once in their lifetimes were nearly twice as likely to say they had had at least one sexually transmitted disease and, quote, extreme groomers.

Those who remove all of their pubic hair more than 11 times a year each were more than four times as likely to have had an infection.
