Last Thursday, when we were all hearing the news from Oregon, where there was yet another mass shooting in a school, yet another deranged person with access to guns with too many weapons, shades of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting where deranged loner Adam Lanza lived with his mother and they owned shitloads of guns.

This kid in Oregon, who's, you know whose name I'm not going to mention, lived with his mother and they owned shitloads of guns and his mom bragged about owning an arsenal.

And her kid took a part of that arsenal,

all legally acquired guns to a community college in Oregon and killed nine people and then

killed himself. While we were all focused on that spectacular bit of gun violence, as the president

went on television to give the speech that he is clearly

sick of giving about these sorts of mass shootings. As the president said that our thoughts and

prayers are not enough as we were focused on the mass shooting in Oregon, the regular old

in-and-out daily carnage of gun violence continued

all across the country.

There were hundreds of shootings that we didn't hear about because they didn't cross that

threshold.

They didn't have that magic number.

I don't know what that magic number is.

Five, six, seven, eight, nine.

What is the magic number at which a shooting breaks into the

national consciousness and becomes a part of the national conversation about gun violence?

Thursday, October 1st, the same day, that deranged asshole shot up that classroom.
