We're going to start today's show with a quick update.

You may remember Zachary Anderson.

I ranted about him at the top of the podcast a couple of months ago.

He's a teenager in Indiana from a small town.

When he was 19 years old, just nine or 10 months out of high school himself, he met a girl online who told him that she was 17.

And he went to meet her in Michigan where she lived.

He went for a little road trip.

And the two wound up having sex in his car.

And he wound up getting arrested.

And the girl testified at his trial that she had misled him, that she had lied to him and told him that she was 17, that she met him on a dating

app where she was not legally allowed to be. And that the sex that she had, even though she was a

minor, was fully consensual, that he hadn't pressured her or coerced her in any way.

And Zachary Anderson ended up being convicted of statutory rape and sentenced to 90 days in jail and a lifetime on the sex offender registry, which included a ban on him ever owning a computer in his life again, which was really problematic because he was studying computer science and working for his parents' graphic design firm, which required him to use computers.

So when he got out of jail, his life was going to be severely circumscribed by this sentence, by him being tossed onto the sex offender registry for the rest of his life. And why was he going to be on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life.

And why was he going to be on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life?

We talked about this too.

The judge, this asshole named Wiley, when he sentenced him, didn't throw the book at Zachary

Anderson because of the statutory rape element of his case.

That wasn't what obsessed the judge.
