I've just gotten back from Australia.

We're had an amazing time.

I was there for six days to appear and speak at the Festival of Dangerous Ideas in Sydney and the Festival of Dangerous Ideas pop-up ancillary event in Melbourne. I had a terrific time. It's an amazing event. There should be something like it here in the States. And some things came out of my mouth at the Festival for Dangerous Ide ideas. We were batting around dangerous fucking ideas. That was the whole point of this festival, hence the title of the festival. And something came out of mouth and I was like, oh my God, this is going to get back to the States and I'm going to get into so much trouble for this. People are going to blow the fuck up. And then I saw it on Twitter, somebody quoting me on Twitter, and I thought, oh, this is the end of me.

This is going to be a shitstorm.

I'm going home to a shitstorm.

And here's what I said that I thought would kick off the shitstorm, but did not.

This is not the shitstorm that I have come home to in the wake of the Festival of Dangerous Ideas.

I said that, as somebody misquoted or only partially quoted me on the Twitter, that I think we should give kitty porn to pedophiles.

Turr-ter-rah.

I thought this would be all over the right-wing Christian blogs.

Dan Savage wants to hand pedophilesiles kitty porn. I qualified that statement.

I unpacked it on the panel that I was on in Sydney, where not actual kitty porn showing actual

children being actually raped, not creating more demand for this kind of rape of children on film,

kitty porn, but Photoshop, drawings, animation, images.

What we know now about the wider availability of hardcore porn on the internet is that it has

correlated very strongly, perhaps causally, with a decrease in sexual assault and rape.
