As we are recording this week's show, as we're recording Tuesday's podcast, they are voting in Minnesota right now in the Minnesota state senate senate on marriage equality bill, which already passed the House. And the governor of Minnesota said he will sign that bill if it reaches his desk. And fingers crossed and I don't want to jinx it. And I'm too Catholic to say it's in the bag. But it looks like it very well could maybe possibly be in the bag until I said in the bag and then jinxed it

and it didn't happen. But no, it looks like it's going to happen. And they are voting right now

as we speak as we record this show on Monday, the day before the show was released. I wish we

knew the results as we spoke, but we don't. But it looks good. The pace of change right now on

marriage equality is staggering. Rhode

Island and Delaware both got marriage equality in the last couple of weeks. Minnesota,

if marriage equality comes to Minnesota this week, will be the 12th state to achieve marriage

equality in the United States. And the third, since the Supreme Court heard oral arguments

on the Defense of Marriage Act, the Federal

Defense of Marriage Act, and California's Proposition 8. The pace of change is staggering and

heartening and thrilling. So little is going right, right? This is going very right. And it is

a little flabbergasting. I remember saying to someone not too long ago that I didn't expect to see marriage

equality in the United States in my lifetime.

I found it in an op-ed I wrote for New York Times that I was looking up to find something

else and there it was.

Me saying not too long ago that this would not happen in my lifetime and it is happening

in my lifetime.
