I'm going to play a clip just to start the show from Michelle Obama's speech to the Democratic National Convention last week.

If farmers and blacksmiths could win independence from an empire. If immigrants could leave behind everything

they knew for a better life on our shores, if women could be dragged to jail for seeking the vote,

if a generation could defeat a depression and define greatness for all time, if a young

preacher could lift us to the

mountaintop with his righteous dream and if proud Americans can be who they are and boldly stand

at the altar with who they love, that surely, surely we can give everyone in this country a fair chance at that great American dream.

I just want to pause here to emphasize what a big fucking deal that was, to use a Joe Bidenism,

not just that, you know, for years really since the 80s, 88, but big fucking deal that was, to use a Joe Bidenism.

Not just that, you know, for years, really since the 80s, 88, gays have gotten name checked in speeches at Democratic National Conventions, which usually meant slipping the word

gay into a long list of, you know, democratic constituencies.

But we've never been mentioned like this as a part of the, you know, in the

rousing section of the speech, this big American dream sort of fireworks going off, rabble-rousing

thing. And the struggle for gay and lesbian equality equated to the founding fathers and

their revolution against the British, the immigration experience, women's struggle for the vote, the African American civil rights movement, Martin Luther King, and then we come right there at the end, right before the invocation of the American dream and the place goes crazy. That is so significant. That tells you everything you need to know about the difference

between the two parties right now. I know there are a lot of right-wing dumb fuck homos out there who are

trying to confuse gay and lesbian voters. Oh, hey, we had a cocktail party at the Republican

National Convention and 600 people came. That means the GOP is on your side. Please don't read our
