I do this regular feature on Slog, which is the Stranger's blog, which is my home paper where I post the Savage Love Letter of the day, every day, called Youth Pastor Watch, because, you know, the fundy Christians are always saying that we gays and lesbians are a danger to children, blah, blah, blah, that we're predatory, that we were coming for your kids because we can't have kids of our own, although we do, but we're coming for your kids, right? And they also say, you know, if you give your heart to Jesus and you go to church and truly believe that you sort of have a leg up on the good person side of the scale. You're good. You're, you know,

Christian. That's all you need to know about somebody. Anyway, so I do youth pastor watch. For a while,

I was posting every news story I could find about a pastor or a priest or a preacher who did something

terrible. And there were just too many of those. It was even depressing me. So I scaled it back. I narrowed the frame,

youth pastors, just youth pastor watch. Because everyone's had youth pastors who was raised Christian

and, you know, youth pastors. We all have stories. And there's a guy who made an appearance

in Youth Pastor Watch a while ago named James, pardon me, Jonathan Hartman.

And in April of last year, he was arrested in charge with repeatedly molesting three girls,

beginning when they were 13 years old, each, continuing until they were 14, 15, and he got

one of the girls pregnant.

And this good Christian, evangelical, fundy Christian, tried to talk his pregnant 15-year-old victim

into getting an abortion because that's what good Christian youth pastors do.

Well, that didn't go down too well with her.

She went to her parents.
