Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast before we get to your calls, a word about the story of the week,

which is, of course, for my listeners, probably Prop 8 being upheld by the Supreme Court of

California, which sort of said that they're going to uphold prop aid.

So gay marriage is still illegal, but these 18,000 couples who married already, they're still married.

The religious right, the opponents of gay marriage, who claimed that the existence of legally married gay couples was a threat to the family, to ravines that would fill with mudslides, to hills that

would burn, hurricanes that would come. And, you know, it would result in homosexuality being

taught in the schools, which is where I learned it. They're saying they're not bothered. They

won. They're happy. They won. Gay marriage. No more gay marriages. And they're content to let

these 18,000

legally married couples kick around the state for the next, I guess, 50, 60 years till they all die

off theoretically.

Of course, hopefully by then we'll have overturned prop 8.

Everyone's bummed.

Everyone went to the demos.

And we've all been talking about Prop 8 except for the White House, which can't bring itself

to say one single goddamn motherfucking word about the historic moment, really, that we're experiencing in the struggle for gay, lesbian, civil equality.

But we're going to set that aside because I don't want to talk about Prop 8.

I want to talk about Prop 22.

A lot of people are despairing because of Prop 8 being upheld.
