but sometimes the comedian is two comedians and the joke is a sketch, like for example, the episode you're currently listening to.

And this sketch came from this little live show that airs on

Saturday nights, funnily enough, called Saturday Night Live. So a year ago,

Entitled Welles for Boys, it's a triumph in comedic specificity.

Subtle and genuinely moving, the comedy walks a curious line of being both gentle yet pointed.

It was instantly recognizable as the work of Julio Torres, the writer on the show that has made a name

for himself with sensitive acute dreamlike sketches like The Sink,

which is about the inner monologue of a Garris

Singh to a papyrus, a sketch about the absurdity of avatar

using the font papyrus for its logo.

Still, Wells for Boys, which he co-wrote with Jeremy Biler, is his masterpiece.

The performances are truly stunning, so I highly recommend you watch it if you haven't,

but you'll definitely get a sense from the audio

why it's so special. It stars Emma Stone as the titular boy's mom and Bobby Moynihan

as his dad. Cessily Strong plays the ads announcer. After you'll hear Julio and Jeremy discuss how it all
