This is part of the Thinking Fellows dogmatics series.

I know we've done some episodes sporadically throughout that aren't part of that as we've

done conferences or interviews and stuff like that.

But we are continuing from last week with our outline from Franz Peeper.

And last week we have an excellent episode on justification. And this week,

we are talking about sanctification. Now, justification is contentious because it's the central

article and there are disagreements about justification, especially when we talk about the Reformation

and we talk about sort of the initial break from the Catholic Church being essentially over justification and then distinctions in some of the finer points of justification like we brought up last week.

But I find that unlike the day to day level, this article,

sanctification seems to be one of, if not, the most contentious ones, the ones with a lot of,

everybody up. Yeah. It riles everybody up. Everybody wants to know about sanctification.

And so we'll just open this up to the question, what is sanctification?

When you're made holy.

Start with the easiest.

I think even in the debate, everyone would agree with that.

But then what that means, there would be some branches coming off of that.

I'll give you a classic Lutheran definition.

Sanctification is the restitution of the divine image in the regenerate by the operation of the Holy Spirit through the means of grace and in the exert or in the exertion of the spiritual energies which is odd way.
