In episode thirty-six of The Running Effect (with Dominic Schlueter), I speak with Sage Hurta. Sage was a seven-time State Champion (including winning one in 7th grade) in the state of New York, a six-time All-American at the University of Colorado (winning one individual title and two team titles), and one of the newest members of the OAC.

I had a delightful conversation with Sage. We go through her amazing career so far and what she has planned for the future. Sage shares so much amazing advice that will help you become a better version of yourself.

Welcome to this week's episode of the running effect with Dominic Shlider. I'm your host, Dominic,

0:15.2

and today we have a super, super special guest, Sage Herda, who recently signed with OAC on Athletics Club. But in this episode,

0:23.5

we go through her whole career, starting out in middle school, high school, where her parents

0:28.9

were actually super accomplished runners. They actually ran in college, I think, the hurdles. But Sage

0:35.6

won a state title in the stacked New York as she goes into as a

0:40.4

seventh grader. But then she also backed it up by winning as a junior and senior. She won four

0:45.2

state track titles. She owns like all of the possible school record. She owns all the possible

0:51.5

records in like every event in track at her high school, which is super funny.

0:57.5

Like she owns the 200 meter record, but also the 3000 meter steeplechase record.

1:03.2

So that's kind of funny.

1:04.6

But we go into her years in high school.

1:08.1

I also ask her if she could go back and give one piece of advice to her high school

1:11.9

self. What would it be? Her answer is really interesting and really great to look back on as a

1:18.3

runner and someone in high school. But then we also go into her time at CU Boulder, where she was

1:24.5

super accomplished. Winning, I believe, two team titles in one individual title.

1:29.7

We go through some of her setbacks, failures, and injuries, some of the things she learned from them.

1:34.7

But then also some of the brighter moments like winning a title, NCAA title in the indoor mile this past year.

1:42.3

And then we also go into her signing with on a few weeks ago and her crazy time at the Olympic trials where she broke her wrist and just misqualifying for the final in the 800 meters because of that.

1:58.0

But I know she'll be back this next year, stronger than ever,

2:02.4

and ready to make a final and potentially make the world's team next year.

2:06.8

So look out for Sage.

2:08.5

Again, I really, really enjoyed this conversation.
