When police had finally finished searching the Holderson family fireplace in the connecting ash trap,

they had a mountain of evidence, they had pieces of bone, they had piles upon piles of ash,

and they even had teeth. Yet despite all this evidence that they had found, there was a lot that

these items didn't tell them. Many of the bones were not able to be identified as human bones,

and the teeth that were found were not able to be matched to any dental records of Bart or Krista. In the previous episode,

we learned that when police pulled dental records, they usually use the positioning of the teeth

in those records to match them to a potential victim. One or two singular teeth is usually not much help. Detectives were in a bit of a

conundrum. They didn't even know how much of Bart and Krista were burned in the fireplace,

which means they didn't know how much of their bodies might still be out there. Now, we do have Bart Holderson's torso that was found wrapped up in a

tarp on Cress's farm, a tarp that happened to match the description of one that Chandler

Halterson had purchased at Fleet Farm on camera on July 2nd.

Chandler was not able to chop up his parents' tors into small enough pieces to fit in the fireplace.

And so if we had recovered Bart's torso, there was one glaring question.

Where was Krista's torso?

Let's quickly revisit the timeline.

Chandler murdered his parents on July 1st, shooting them in the back with a semi-automatic

rifle.

He then burned their bodies in the family fireplace on the night of July 1st, all the way into

the early morning hours of July 2nd.
