What effect does fire have on the human body?

It can change it dramatically.

When heat is applied to a body, heat will generally cause the skin to tighten and shrink.

Rinkles around the corners of the eyes and the corner of the mouth began to smooth out somewhat.

Those changes eventually will get down to the destruction of the skin, the fat, the muscle

tissue, and can ultimately, if the fire is allowed to continue to burn, down to the destruction

of the bone tissue as well.

July 1st had been a long, long night for Chandler. Perhaps the longest night of his life,

and the day ahead wouldn't necessarily be any easier. He had already made plans to hang

out with Kat, his girlfriend. He had mounting pressure from his friends, family, and Krista

and Bart's co-workers to explain where they had gone, and most importantly,

he had two disembodied torsos to deal with. Chandler would also be facing these challenges

on no sleep. Having just experienced, though admittedly self-inflicted, one of the most traumatic things a person could possibly

ever experience. Murdering, chopping up, and then burning the decapitated heads of your own

parents. The toll that such a thing would take on the psyche cannot be overstated. The so-called family room that housed the wood-burning fireplace

in the Halterson home was covered in blood and the inside of that fireplace was filled with ash.

One thing we didn't mention in the previous episode is that it was also almost surely covered in Chandler's sweat.

One thing we touched on at the very end of chapter 9, which is now a couple chapters back,

is that the Haltersen house had no central air conditioning.

They did have one unit in the kitchen, I'm not sure if it was a window unit or a mini split, but Catherine actually talked about this in her interview with police.
