I'm John Batch, Professor Evan Ellis is here, and he promises me good news. It's in the Bahamas. What's

happened, Professor? We have a few minutes. Well, John, there was a snap election and the incumbent

party, the Progressive Liberal Party of Philip Brave Davis won a resounding victory. 30 of 41 seats

actually in an expanded legislature against the free national movement.

Now, what it really seems to be is stability and it's a voter ratification of some of the good

things that his government has accomplished with respect to trying to address some

cost issues by tax reform, trying to address some of the

problems with with the housing crisis in other matters. I can also say that it's probably an

example where despite the substantial advance of China, you've had the U.S. looking for

cooperative solutions with the government in a relatively well-governed

environment. I had the opportunity to get to know the U.S. ambassador down there, a former

football star ambassador Herschel Walker, who is an amazingly nice and bright guy, and I think,

has really established a very strong relationship with the Brave Davis government.

And so there's hope that that positive relationship will continue. And the U.S. and the Bahamas

will continue to look for ways to work together and to try to address some of the concerns

over some of the more worrisome aspects of the advance of China in the country.

I wondered where Herschel Walker went. He was badly treated during the campaign.

He's a charming man for a running back.

They couldn't stop.
