This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Batchel in New England, a cool and beautiful

New England springtime evening. Speaking with my good colleague, Jeremy Zakis, he is in New South Wales,

and it is fall, but it's been very unusually cold fall. We now turn to a story, however, that's

international and puzzling. Now, cricket is not a game

I knew you could fix. I didn't know that. Maybe you can, maybe you can. Baseball, yes, the famous Chicago

Black Sox of 1919. However, there is an allegation or a suspicion that Canada fixed a T20 game, and I don't know why.

Jeremy, I didn't even know Canada was in the league. We've never talked about it. We worry about

England. We've talked about India. Every once in a while we talk about other countries coming

through touring, and there's always New Zealand to pay attention to. But Canada, Canada plays ice hockey.

I didn't know they played cricket. And a T20 game, what an odd story. Does this make sense to you?

Well, John, I guess I should remember too. Canada is part of

the Commonwealth naturally must be attracted to cricket, but you're right. We never talk about

them because they really don't make the headlines. They're one of those teams that just is there,

but they're never at the top, they're never at the absolute bottom, and they just kind of do

their thing. But the reality is that Canada too is also

often the most uncontroversial team. So they're a cricket team that doesn't really draw a lot

of attention or headlines because they never do anything that warrants it. However, in this case,

things have gone really, really strange. They've gone really, really sideways. And it all starts

back on the 17th

February this year in Chennai, India, where they were playing a T20 game against New Zealand.

And it was truly an unremarkable game. At the time, didn't even make the headlines. It was

just on the cricket score, scorecards. People were aware it happened, but there was nothing weird
