I'm John Batchel. I welcome Mariam Waba of the Foundation for Defensive Democracies,

writing most recently about the crisis in Sudan that's been going on for many years.

And what we're looking at is mass murder, but also the intervention of powers in this conflict over what I can see,

just King of the Hill, between two evenly matched forces using weapons from everywhere in the world, carrying on.

They have acronyms, SAF, RSF, but it comes down to two strong-minded warlords fighting over this territory that once upon a time

in the late 20th century was seen as a scene of genocide. That seems inadequate for the scale

of death now, but it's those outside forces that are the puzzle. These last days, many international

partners so-called have been meeting in Berlin to resolve or at least lead toward a ceasefire.

This has happened before.

I remember as Secretary Blinken under the Biden administration was frustrated by this tangle.

Everybody has been for years.

The two warlords right now, they are accepting aid from outside. What aid? From where? Good
