I'm John Bachelor. Behind the black, Bob Zimmerman joins. His website takes us on a tour of constellations for

communication. The original constellation, of course, is Starlink. And now, Bob, a very good evening

to you. What is Leo and where is its ambition? All right. So actually, I'm going to talk about three

separate constellations, new internet constellations

that are being assembled in orbit right now.

Amazon's Leo constellation is pretty much Jeff Bezos attempting to copy or even improve

on Starlink by SpaceX and Elon Musk.

They've got about 241 satellites in orbit. They need to get

about 16, a little over 1,600 in orbit by July to meet their FCC license requirement,

which requires them to get half their constellation up by July 26th. And it doesn't look like

they're going to make that.

In fact, it's guaranteed they won't make it.

They've asked for a waiver from the FCC and it's pending.

Their CEO, his name is Andy Jassy.

He sent a letter to shareholders this week,

which he was basically, you know, plugging how wonderful the company is.

But in that letter, he said they hope to inaugurate Leo Internet Constellation Services to customers in mid-26.

That would be July of this year.

Now, I don't know what's the minimum number of satellites they can have an orbit to start providing service.

I can't imagine that they're going to have enough in orbit by July to really do that.

But that's what he says.

He hopes to be able to make that by mid-26.
