What starts in California doesn't stay in California

if it's political. And right now we have a governor, Gavin Newsom, two-term governor, who clearly is on

the runway for a presidential campaign. He also has a governor's wife, the first lady of California,

who's on a campaign trail of her own.

And then we have a man who wants to be governor, Eric Swalwell, who's a little bit known in the rest of the country because of his outspoken conduct on television now and again.

However, I want to start with the First Lady of California, because this is all news to me.

Who is she, and why is she so vividly in the headlines, Jeff?

Jennifer Siebel Newsom is Gavin Newsom's outspoken wife. And you know, you're talking about them,

both singularly and as a couple. They're a beautiful looking couple. They have a beautiful,

you know, group of children. They look like the All-American family. They're really very Kennedy-esque.

You know, I'm sure people, if it goes far enough, are going to start invoking Camelot again.

But Jennifer Newsom is very outspoken, and she has been since the beginning.

She said, look, I'm not going to be referred to as first lady.

I'm first partner.

I'm their part of the decision-making process, and people started saying, wait a minute,

I don't remember voting for you, but nonetheless.

But along the way, different controversies have popped up.

For example, she's a documentarianarian and her company gets funding from some of

Gavin's good friends and donors, which makes it kind of suspicious. But she makes these documentaries,

for example, about gender orientation. And the word is that those are then sold to schools in

California who have to pay the price for that have to pay for them.
